KATHMANDU: A meeting of House of Representatives slated for Sunday has been postponed till 1 pm on January 20.

The meeting was postponed as the leaders of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) have remained at odds with the selection of a new Speaker.

The meeting was expected to announce a date for filing of nomination for the post and fixation of the election date.

The post is vacant since October 1, 2019, after Krishna Bahadur Mahara resigned.

Earlier on Saturday, NCP had requested Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe to step down. However, she has insisted that she is not quitting anytime soon.
