Deuba not to attend Constitutional Council meeting slated for Sunday

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that he will not be able to attend the meeting of the Constitutional Council (CC) scheduled for Sunday.

Prime Minister KP Oli has called a CC meeting on Sunday at 9 am. However, a leader said that Deuba had informed the Prime Minister on Saturday that he would not be able to attend the meeting.

There is a provision that the leader of the Main Opposition must attend the meeting. However, a source said that the meeting has not been postponed yet.

There are 46 vacancies in 11 constitutional bodies including the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Election Commission, and Women’s Commission.
