Prachanda discusses with Secretariat members

KATHMANDU: Executive Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal alias Prachanda held a discussion with Secretariat members on Thursday.

Chairman Prachanda had a discussion with four members of the Secretariat in Khumaltar to decide on the Secretariat meeting to be held at 4 pm on Friday.

Apart from Prachanda, senior leaders Jhalanath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal, Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gautam and Spokesperson Narayankaji Shrestha had a discussion this afternoon, sources said.

The meeting has been scheduled for Friday afternoon after five top-notch leaders including Prachanda piled pressure on Oli to call the meeting.

Prachanda had been urging Prime Minister Oli to call party meetings to resolve the widening intra-party dispute.

The majority of Secretariat members had demanded the meetings after Oli warned that he would split the party if the meetings were convened without consensus.

The Prachanda-Nepal faction has been dissatisfied with Oli after the latter unilaterally recommended ambassadors, reformed cabinet, brought a no-confidence motion against the chief minister of Karnali Province, and held a meeting with the chief of the Research and Analysis Wing, the foreign intelligence agency of India.
