Chief opp’n leader Shahi dismisses Global Times’ report on Nepal-China border dispute

KATHMANDU: Chief opposition leader of Karnali Pradesh Jiwan Bahadur Shahi has dismissed the report of the China government’s mouthpiece The Global Times daily accusing the Nepali Congress (NC) of spreading misleading rumors about the Nepal-China border dispute.

Issuing a press note, chief opposition party leader Shahi said he and his party Nepali Congress have been concerned with the news disseminated by The Global Times in which the China government has labeled the conclusion of the field report on the Nepal-China border dispute carried out by the NC team as baseless.

In the press note, Shahi has challenged the China government to furnish the evidence to prove that no Nepali land in Humla has been encroached.

Shahi in the press release has maintained that the evidence has clearly shown China has not only encroached land in Lolongjom but also in the other areas.

China has built an iron gate and a barbed wire near the pillar no. 9 (2) in the no man’s land zone near Hilsa breaching the international border protocol, claims the press note.
