Five caught while trying to sell tortoise at Rs 3.5 million



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested five people from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14, Kalanki while they were trying to sell a rare yellow tortoise on Saturday morning.

The arrested are 25-year-old Sarvaraj Budha of Surkhet, 18-year-old Kishor of Nuwakot, 27-year-old Santosh Ramtel of Kavre and 18-year-old Kishor of Rautahat and Pramod Baskota, 19, of Nuwakot.

The tortoise, weighing around 700 grams and 12 inches long, was brought from Chitwan.

They were arrested while attempting to sell the tortoise at Rs 3.5 million.

Police said that further investigation was underway.
