KATHMANDU: The Government of Nepal has written to the Indian government raising serious concern over the dissemination of fake, imaginary and baseless news reports by some Indian news channels against Nepal and Prime Minister.

The note says such reports have hurt the feelings of Nepali people.

The diplomatic note had drawn the latter’s attention towards the ill-intent, imaginary, and fake reports made by some Indian news channels.

“As such baseless and ill-intent news is likely to adversely impact in the cordial relations between the nations and the relationship at citizens level, it has really drawn attention of our government,” the source at the Office of the Prime Minister said quoting the note.

There have been protests against the Indian news channels after they telecast some objectionable news and comments linking Chinese Ambassador to Nepal and PM KP Oli.

Multi System Operators in Nepal have banned some news channels including GEE NEWS, Aaj Tak, ABP News and India Today as a protest against the telecast of unethical news.
