NSU protests against petroleum price hike

KATHMANDU: Nepal Student Union (NSU), a student wing of main opposition of Nepali Congress (NC), has hit the streets against the petroleum price hike on Sunday.

Stating that the price hike in the petroleum products at such a difficult time further aggravates the situation of the Nepali people already hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, NSU has picketed the Babarmahal-based Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC)’s Office on Sunday.

Chanting slogans, ‘We don’t care the profit or loss, we don’t accept the price hike’, the protesters demanded with the government to withdraw the decision.

The NOC increased the price of petroleum products (petrol, diesel, and kerosene) by Rs 1 per liter on Friday.

With the price hike, the price of petrol has reached Rs 102 and diesel and kerosene Rs 88 per liter in the market.
