Lockdown COVID-19 Online Video Poomsae Championships from June 21



KATHMANDU: The ‘Lockdown COVID-19 Online Video Poomsae Championships’ are taking place from June 21.

The International Open Friendship Taekwondo Championships (IOFTC), which is headquartered in Poland is set to organize the online competition in two phases when the global pandemic has affected world sports, according to IOFTC’s founder and competition’s director Diwakar Maharjan.

According to Maharjan, the ‘color belt’ competition will take place from June 21 to 27.

Athletes from around 25 countries will participate in the match.

Under this, in men’s and women’s categories, seven competitions will be organized each.

Similarly, in the second phase, ‘black belt’ competition will take place from July 12 to 18 in which men’s and women’s groups, athletes will compete for 11 medals each.

Daedo Taekwondo, USA Taekwondo, Everest Taekwondo Association, Universal United Nepalese Taekwondo will support the competition.

The participants are required to provide audio visual activities of their performance more than two minutes online and a jury panel recognized by the World Taekwondo Federation will publish the results after evaluating their performance.

The 13th edition of the International Open Friendship Taekwondo Championships that were scheduled to take place in the United States of America this year, was postponed due to global COVID-19 pandemic.
