Nepal-Israel coronavirus consultative committee formed



KATHMANDU: The Nepal-Israel coronavirus consultative committee has been formed for sharing knowledge and experience on COVID-19 treatment.

Nepali Embassy in Israel on 26 May coordinated a virtual meeting to share Israeli experience and success obtained in the prevention and control of coronavirus infection.

Nepali Ambassador to Israel Dr Anjan Shakya informed that the consultative mechanism was constituted to help lessen negative impacts resulting from corona pandemic through dialogue as well as for necessary medical management.

The committees from both the countries with specialists would make consultation on treatment and management.

Dr Biraj Karmacharya of the Kathmandu University would coordinate the Nepali side to that end. “We expect that Nepal could reap benefits from the sophisticated technology, knowledge and experience from Israel which has gained success in the prevention and control of coronavirus”, Ambassador Shakya said.

Among others in the committee from Nepal are Director-General of the Department of Health Service, Dr Dipendra Raman Singh, Chairperson of Nepal Medical Council, Dr Bhagawan Koirala, Director of Department of Health Services, Taranath Pokhrel.

Likewise, representative of Nursing and Social Security Division, Director of Department of Health Services, Roshani Laxmi Tuitui, Director of the National Public Health Laboratory Dr Runa Jha, Senior Health Administrative of Ministry of Health and Population Dr Guna Nidhi Sharma are also in the committee.

Similarly, Dr Anup Banstola of Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Senior Public Health Administrative at the Health and Population Ministry, Bhim Prasad Sapkota, Dr Shailendra Shrestha of Nepal Armed Police Hospital, Dr Arun Neupane and Dr Sushil Rawal of Nepal Army Hospital, Dr Ashish Dutta of Nepal Police Hospital, Ashish Shrestha of Patan Hospital, Dr Santa Kumar Das of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital have also been included in the committee.

Different memorandum of understandings have been already signed regarding cooperation from Israel to Nepal in terms of technology, agriculture and health fronts in a way to further strengthen friendly relations between the two countries.
