Three labs in Kathmandu to test COVID-19

KATHMANDU: The government of Nepal has added the COVID-19 test centers in the Kathmandu Valley.

Speaking at the regular press briefing, Dr. Bikash Devkota, Spokesperson at Ministry of Health and Population, on Saturday said that the government has added two centers for the COVID-19 test.

He said that Bir Hospital and Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Hospital are now capable of performing COVID-19 tests.

Bir Hospital started tests for the virus from Saturday while Sukraraj Hospital will begin it from Sunday.

Similarly, the government has also planned to add more COVID-19 test centers at the Armed Police Force Hospital, Balambhu, Patan Hospital, and Ayurved Treatment Center, Kirtipur.

Earlier in Kathmandu, tests for COVID-19 were performed only at National Public Health Laboratory in Teku.
