Samikshya, who donated one kidney to PM Oli, discharged from hospital

KATHMANDU: Samikshya Sangraula, who donated one of her kidneys to Prime Minister KP Oli has been discharged from the Maharajgung-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) today.

She was admitted to the hospital last Monday.

Samikshya met PM Oli before her discharge and inquired about PM Oli’s health.

It should be noted that PM Oli was likely to be discharged on Wednesday. However, the TUTH says even though there has been a noticeable improvement in PM’s health condition, he will not be discharged immediately.

According to Dr Divya Singh, PM Oli’s personal doctor, one of the main reasons is that PM’s residence would not be ‘medically fit’ considering the nature of the surgery, and the fear of infection.

Dr Singh also said it will take around six months for PM Oli to recover completely.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, TUTH said Prime Minister Oli has been made to stroll around and has been provided with normal food.

Meanwhile, the health condition of Samiksha Sangraula who donated one of her kidneys to Prime Minister Oli is also recuperating. She is likely to be discharged soon, doctors said.
