NC to launch agitation from Dec 14; Deuba to address in Makawanpur

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress, the main opposition party, is launching agitation against the government in all 77 districts from December 14.

The party has entrusted central level leaders to address mass meetings in major towns.

Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to address a mass meeting in Makawanpur.

The party has assigned central level leaders in various districts for the agitation, according to the party.

A meeting of NC office-bearers had on Thursday instructed party central leaders and cadres from all 77 districts to launch protest against the mistreatment of senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel in Tanahu last week.

Leaders including party President Deuba, youth leader Gagan Thapa, among others are going to different districts to intensify the agitation against the government.

Lawmaker Thapa has been assigned to Kailali, the party said.

Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma said the central leaders would address in several districts.

According to him, senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel will address the mass in Kathmandu, Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi in Bhaktapur, General Secretary Dr Shashank Koirala in Biratnagar, Treasurer Sita Devi Yadav in Lalitpur, Joint General Secretary Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat in Jhapa, central leaders Gopal Man Shrestha in Kavre, Prakash Man Singh in Dhanusha, Krishna Prasad Sitaula in Mahottari, Chitralekha Yadav in Saptari, Ram Sharan Mahat in Chitwan, Arjun Narasingha KC in Pokhara, Pradip Poudel in Kanchanpur and NP Saud in Achham district.

The NC party will protest the government’s non-performance, its failure to control corruption, and lack of effectiveness against the fight against coronavirus, among others.
