NCP row: Dahal-Nepal faction to extend alliance up to local level

KATHMANDU:  Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and senior leader Madav Kumar Nepal are working to extend their alliance up to the local level.

With the intra-party dispute deepening further, the Dahal-Nepal faction has decided to take its views to all the seven provinces, according to an NCP source.

Talking to Khabarhub, a leader close to Dahal-Nepal faction said the disgruntled group is preparing to launch a political campaign by organizing a district level conclave across the country.

As a part of the campaign, Dahal and Nepal held a gathering of chairpersons, secretaries and in-charges of 13 districts in Kathmandu on Thursday under the Bagmati Pradesh.

In the gathering held at Peris Danda in Koteshwor yesterday, as many as 50 district level leaders were present.

NCP Executive chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal and senor leader Nepal gave an orientation to the cadres on the Dahal’s proposal and the upcoming strategy in the conclave that lasted for almost four hours.

Dahal and Nepal in the gathering vehemently stated that they would not compromise with Prime Minister Oli and would take their views up to the local level, said Central Committee member Kumar Paudel.

Earlier, Oli during a meeting with Dahal on Wednesday had asked the latter to break the alliance with Nepal to form a new alliance with him, Dahal revealed.

Speaking at the gathering, Dahal also vowed that his alliance with Nepal will go a long way and no one can break it.

Intra-party dispute of ruling NCP has reached a new height after chairman duo KP Sharma Oli and Dahal presented their separate political dossiers trading verbal barbs against each other recently.
