Bhaktapur Municipality urges govt  to issue prohibitory order

BHAKTAPUR: The Bhaktapur Municipality has urged the government to re-impose prohibitory order after the coronavirus infection started getting out of control.

A meeting of the Municipal Disaster Management Center chaired by Mayor Sunil Prajapati on Sunday decided to request the government to re-impose restrictions other non-essential services.

Mayor Prajapati said that the municipality has decided to request for re-imposition of the order considering the possibility of further spread of COVID-19 due to overcrowding of the people in many public places and market places.

He informed that the meeting also decided to call on the city dwellers from Bhaktapur Municipality to prevent crowds by restricting all kinds of processions and rituals in the approaching Bada Dashain for the prevention and control of COVID-19.

Chief District Officer of Bhaktapur, Humakala Pandey, who participated in the meeting, expressed concern over the increased risk of corona in the valley after the restriction was lifted.

Deputy Chief of Bhaktapur Municipality Rajni Joshi, Chief Administrative Officer Ram Lal Shrestha, Chief of Nepal Army Veer Dal Battalion Shiv Prasad Poudel, Superintendent of Police of the Metropolitan Police Complex Tara Devi Thapa, Armed Police Force SP Mukunda Chapagain, Pawan Raj Pandey, Research Officer, National Research Department, Bhaktapur, Rajendra Prasad Nepal from Bhaktapur Hospital, Ratnasunder Lasiva, Head of Public Health Center, People’s Representative of Bhaktapur Municipality, Birendra Jati, President of Bhaktapur Household and Small Industries Association, representatives of Bhaktapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry were present in the meeting.
