KATHMANDU: The Department of Revenue Investigation (DoRI) has sued the proprietor of Hi- Tech International Pvt. Ltd on foreign currency misappropriation through import of goods through custom evasion case.

According to the DoRI sources, the Hi-Tech International is found involved in custom evasion and foreign currency misappropriation worth 1.71 billion rupees.

DoRI has filed a case against Hi-Tech claiming 1.71 billion rupees as fine for the act.

Proprietor of Hi-Tech Hari Kumar Shrestha has been sued on behalf of the company.

The Department has claimed that while importing the goods and items, Shrestha’s company has been importing stealthily without booking it formally in the records.

“Once the goods arrive in Nepal, it’s found that Shrestha’s company has been skipping the transaction record of such goods as well,” the Department sources told Khabarhub.

Shrestha is also found to have sent foreign currency without taking permission from the bank.
