Kathmandu Valley records 1,416 new COVID-19 cases; 8 deaths

KATHMANDU: As many as 1,416 persons have been infected with COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, as many  as 1,145 persons in Kathmandu, 110 in Bhaktapur, and 161 in Lalitpur have tested positive for coronavirus.

Similarly, 8 persons including a female have died of coronavirus in the Valley in the last 24 hours.

A 66-year-old female and four males aged 60, 70, 75, 83 in Kathmandu, 49-year-old male in Lalitpur and 2 males aged 44, 57 in Bhaktapur succumbed to coronavirus.

Likewise, a total of 2,071 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with the recent data, the total number of cases reached 1,07,755 in the country as of Sunday afternoon.

Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor said that altogether 12,427 sample tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours.

According to Dr. Gautam, 1,552 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 75,804 in the country.

Nepal’s recovery rate stands at 70.3 percent, he added.

Nepal currently has 31,315 active cases, he said.

Dr. Gautam stated that a total of 13,649 people are in institutional isolation and 17,666 others are in home isolation facilities.

Likewise, 4,613 people are in quarantine facilities across the country at present.

Similarly, he said that 329 infected ones are receiving treatment in ICU beds and 76 others are on ventilators across the country.

Likewise, 22 people succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours taking the tally of coronavirus caused deaths in the country to 636, the Ministry confirmed.
