Three guesthouses raided in Bhaktapur, 14 arrested



BHAKTAPUR: Police raided three guest houses in Thimi area of Bhaktapur and rounded up 14 people including proprietors.

Metropolitan Police Circle, Thimi raided the guesthouses on Saturday night on a tip-off that ‘anti-social activities’ have increased in the area after coronavirus restrictions lifted.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Rishi Ram Kandel said that seven women have also been arrested.

The law enforcement agency raided Sunkoshi Guest House, Sunrise Guest House and Balkumari Guest House last night.

Proprietor Kamal Giri, 20, of Dhanusha, Ramesh Ghaju, 30, of Thimi-7, and a 20-year-old woman from Dolakha were nabbed from Sunkoshi Guest House.

The proprietor of Sunrise Guest House Dil Dhwaj Khadka, 38, of Ramechhap has been arrested.

Similarly, a 24-year-old woman of Dang, a 35-year-old of Morang, a 47-year-old man of Changunarayan-7 and a 23-year-old man of Bhojpur have also been nabbed.

The proprietor of Balkumari Guest House Naresh Bogati, 24, of Kalikot, a 32-year-old woman from Sindhuli and a 23-year-old of Kavre were arrested.

Police have also nabbed a 24-year-old woman from Sindhuli, a 22-year-old woman from Sunsari and a 27-year-old man from Makwanpur from the guest house.

Police said that further investigation was underway.
