Kathmandu Valley reports record-high 696 COVID-19 cases

KATHMANDU: As many as 696 persons have been infected from COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 620 persons in Kathmandu, 38 persons in Bhaktapur and 38 persons in Lalitpur have been tested positive for the pandemic virus.

A total of 1,454 people have been diagnosed positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population stated.

Nepal’s COVID-19 tally has reached 51,919 with the new cases, said Spokesperson at the Ministry Dr. Jageshwor Gautam at a regular COVID-19 Update on Friday afternoon.

He added that 10,701 samples were tested through the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method in laboratories across the country.

Currently, 14,925 are undergoing treatment in isolation. A total of 8,291 are in institutional isolation and 6,634 in home isolation.

A total 6,078 of have been quarantined, Spokesperson Dr. Gautam said.

Meanwhile, 972 COVID-19 patients were discharged from different hospitals and isolation centers.
