Province-1 records highest ever daily spike in infection cases



ITAHARI: Province-1 has recorded 98 pandemic patients- 64 male 34 female- the highest recorded COVID-19 tally so far in the Province as of Tuesday evening.

According to the Corona Information Desk of the Province Government, Morang, Sunsari, Udayapur Jhapa, Ilam and Taplejung has seen proven COVID-19 patients today. Morang, Sunsari, Udayapur and Jhapa have 61, 18, 15 and 2 COVID-19 patients respectively. Likewise, Ilam and Taplejung each recorded one patient today.

Province capital Biratnagar witnessed 50 patients- 29 male and 21 female- today. Despite locally announced 14-day-long lockdown starting from August 1, Biratnagar has an increasing number of pandemic patients.

Today, 1,682 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests were carried out in Province-1, shared Corona Information Desk of the Province.

As of Tuesday evening, Province-1 has 1,543 pandemic cases- 1,263 male and 300 female. Out of this, 1,014 patients- 851 male and 163 female- have been discharged after recovery. Eight patients have died of this pandemic. All the deceased are male.
