Four docs including NMC member arrested over illegal kidney transplantation



KATHMANDU: Four doctors including the Chief Executive Officer of the College of Medical Sciences, Bharatpur Suprabhat Shrestha have been arrested over illegal kidney transplantation.

A team of police deployed from the Human Trafficking and Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police arrested them on Saturday evening.

The arrested doctors are Rakesh Verma, Suprabhat Shrestha, Bal Krishna Kalakheti and Kiran Adhikari.

Shrestha is also a member of the Nepal Medical Council (NMC). Sources said that the council has also received unofficial information about Shrestha’s arrest and will take necessary decisions.

Administrative Officer at District Administration Office, Chitwan Ram Chandra Dhakal and Legal Adviser Ramesh Kafle have also been arrested over the kidney transplantation done a year ago.
