NCP Chairman Prachanda inspects flood-hit areas in Chitwan



CHITWAN: Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said efforts were on to control soil erosion caused by the Narayani River.

He assured people not to be panicked because works were continued to control the erosion.

Inspecting the soil erosion at Nyurechowk, the border of Ward No 27 and 28 of Bharatpur Metropolis today, Chairman Dahal informed that Nepal Army, Armed Police, Nepal Police and locals were working untiringly for minimizing the risk.

Also, the people’s representative elected from the area, former Prime Minister Dahal said he arrived there even by postponing the scheduled discussion with party Chairman and Prime Minister.

He further reminded that the concept of the embankment along the Rapti and Narayani rivers and ring road project was initiated during his premiership.

Detailed project report and environmental impact assessment to these was underway. As the government was positive for it, the projects would be carried out, he hoped.

The flooded Narayani River has begun eroding soil on its banks since Friday after the incessant rainfall flooded it.
