Disaster Management Committee meeting underway at Baluwatar



KATHMANDU:  A meeting of National Council for Disaster Risks Reduction and Management (NCDRRM) is taking place at the Prime Minister’s  Official Residence in Baluwatar.

Leaders including Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, main opposition party leader Sher Bahadur Deuba are taking part in the meeting.

The meeting is dwelling on the loss of lives and properties caused by the monsoon-induced floods and landslides and steps to be taken to minimize the risks, said Surya Thapa, the Press Advisor to the Prime Minister.

The leaders in the meeting have advised the Prime Minister to effectively dole out the relief materials to the flood victims, according to Thapa.

Following the NCDRRM meeting, Prime Minister will hold a meeting with the cabinet ministers in Baluwatar.

Monsoon-triggered floods and landslides have taken a heavy toll across the country, killing at least 26 while more than 41 people have disappeared as of Friday.
