Bereaved families to get one lakh in relief support



POKHARA: The families who have lost a member in the landslides that took place in various parts of the district will get a relief assistance of Rs. 100,000.

Likewise, those injured will get free treatment in government hospitals.

A decision to this end was taken by the Friday meeting of the District Disaster Management Committee. Accordingly, seven families who lost a member in Kaski as of today, will receive the immediate relief support of Rs. 100,000, according to the committee chair and Chief District Officer Gyan Prasad Dhakal.

The relief support is being provided as per the Disaster victim rescue and relief standards, 2074 B.S.

The committee has also decided to shift people living in vulnerable areas to safer location, considering the risk from floods and landslides. All security agencies in the district have been directed to stay alert for necessary search and rescue operation.

Five people in Gothadi of Pokhara metropolis-18 and one each in ward no. 25 and 26 died after being buried by landslides on Thursday night. Eleven others were injured in the same incident.
