One drowns in flooded stream in Chitwan



CHITWAN: A man has drowned while crossing a stream in Madi this morning. The man of around 30 years old was crossing the Rimal stream when the incident took place.

Two days of continuous downpour had led to a sudden rise in water level and current in the stream. The body of the man was recovered from Harinagar in Madi municipality-7, according to the Area Police Office in Madi.

Meanwhile, the dam at Dibyanagar in ward no. 27 of Bharatpur metropolis has been damaged by the Narayani river. Five meters of the seven-meter dam was washed away, District Police Office, Chitwan said. The dam had been constructed by police and army personnel on Friday.

Likewise, two houses were damaged when trees fell over them in Bhojad and Yagyapuri of Bharatpur metropolis on Friday. Nobody was injured in the incident while effort is being made to remove the fallen trees, Superintendent of Police Nanti Raj Gurung said.
