India’s coronavirus tally crosses 8 lakh; deaths near 22,000

NEW DELHI: India’s confirmed cases of COVID-19 crossed the 8 lakh mark after new cases were reported from Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Maharashtra states.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s (MoHFW) COVID update, the tally stands at 7,93,802.

However, the new cases detected by the health departments of state governments put the tally beyond 8 lakhs.

The Union Health Ministry said that the national fatality rate for coronavirus patients has declined to 2.72 per cent.
