Rakuten Viber, UNICEF Nepal join hands to empower voices of children and youth in Nepal
Rakuten Viber, one of the worlds’ leading messaging apps for free and secure communication, and UNICEF, United Nations agency working for child rights in Nepal, have collaborated to launch U-Report Nepal Chatbot on Viber.
U-Report Nepal is a community participation tool empowering young people to be active advocates for positive change in their communities.
The partnership has also launched a free Viber sticker pack called Covidko Kura’. U-Report Nepal is a chatbot on Viber that enables young people to receive information related to COVID-19, mental health issues, and other relevant matters.
Future of electric vehicles on hold after govt hikes tax
The future of electric vehicles has been uncertain after the government increased tax for electric vehicles in the fiscal year 2020/21.
The future of over 356 unit vehicles for which the companies had forwarded the processes for their procurement has been on hold. Currently, 112 unit vehicles demanded by various companies have arrived at the Custom Office.
Electric Kona 27 unit of Hyundai Motors, Kia Niro 27 unit and electric car of BYD among others have arrived at the Custom Office. Many companies are currently facing problems as they have already received booking orders from customers.
Customers are not ready to afford higher price on the one hand while the companies will not be able to sell even if they bring the vehicles after clearing duty on the other. The price of electric vehicle is likely to go up by 100 percent compared to the current price.
Subba appointed NEPS CEO
Sanjeev Subba has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nepal Electronic Payment System Limited (NEPS).
Earlier, Subba had worked as the CEO for the National Banking Institute since its establishment. Subba, who had 28 years’ experience in banking, professional development and educational and training management system, has done master’s degree in International Trade from Webster University, USA.
Bagmati State govt to provide financial assistance to flood victims
Expressing sorrow over the loss of life and property in the flood and landslide incidents occurred in Sindhupalchok, Chief of Bagmati State, Bishnu Prasad Prasain has urged the state government to expedite the search and rescue works.
He also urged citizens to be cautious and the government to remain prepared for rescue operations.
The Bagmati State government has said it would provide financial assistance to the families of the people who lost their lives in the landslide and floods in Sindhupalchok district. Bagmati State government’s minister for internal affairs, Shalikram Jamkattel, minister for industry, tourism, forest and environment Arun Prasad Nepal and minister for social development Yubaraj Dulal had reached the flood and landslide-hit area in Sindhupalchok for overseeing rescue and relief works.
