KATHMANDU: The government has made some changes to the lockdown modality.

The Cabinet meeting on Wednesday issued some new orders easing the lockdown imposed to reduce the spread of the coronavirus, government Spokesperson Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada informed.

According to him, the Cabinet has decided to allow private vehicles to operate in the concerned districts including the Valley on odd and even basis.

He said that only one person on a motorcycle and three people including a driver can sit in a private vehicle.

According to Spokesperson Dr. Khatiwada, production and distribution of agriculture and livestock business, industry, trade, business and shops and department stores will be open.

The government has decided not to operate the shopping mall. All types of transportation services will come into operation.

The movement of people has also been opened. As per the decision of the government, banks and financial institutions will now be open full time.

As per the decision of the government, educational institutions, tuition centers and training centers will not come into operation. Domestic and international flights will be closed unless permitted.

Similarly, meetings, conferences, seminars and training have been banned. Demonstrations and gatherings will also be stopped. Cinema houses, party palaces will also be closed. All kinds of entertainment and playgrounds will be closed. According to the decision, shopping malls will also not be operational.

All kinds of religious and social places and public transport will be closed.

Suspension of domestic and international flights will continue, Minister Khatiwada said.

According to Dr. Khatiwada, the government has decided to operate private and government offices in two shifts.

The government has made this decision to manage physical distance and reduce traffic congestion. For the time being, the government has decided to operate the office in one shift from 8 am to 1 pm and another from 1 pm to 6 pm.

Similarly, service has been made available in the restaurant sector through takeaway. Although restaurants can be opened, customers will not be able to sit there. The government has decided that customers can go to restaurants and take away food. Hotels and nightclubs will not open.

Development projects run by the private sector will also be able to run smoothly, according to the decision.

The construction of the hydropower project has also been made smooth and the excavation and sale of aggregates and mining industries have also been opened.

Following will continue to be closed until further notice:

Educational Institutions (Schools, Universities, Tuition Centers and Training Centers)
Domestic and international flights, except as permitted
Movement from international border checkpoints except specified
All kinds of training, meetings and seminars
All kinds of demonstration gatherings and conferences
Entertainment places including cinemas, party palaces, dance bars
Public library, museum, zoo, saloon and beauty parlor
Swimming pool and health club
Shopping malls
Sports and on-field performances
All religious and public places
