KATHMANDU: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has unveiled its flight schedule to rescue Nepali people stranded abroad due to lockdown.
The national flag carrier prepared its schedule for the month of June after the government decided to rescue 30,000 Nepalis through chartered flights.
The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation on Wednesday held discussions with the stakeholders and permitted NAC to conduct a total of 24 flights, Himalaya Airlines 19 and foreign airlines to carry out 24 flights as per the decision of the government.
NAC will conduct flights via its two wide bodies and two narrow bodies. Similarly, Himalayan Airlines, a private airlines company in Nepal, has four narrow body airbuses.
They will carry Nepali people to their full capacity. Four airbuses of NAC can carry 1,600 passengers while that of Himalaya Airlines can carry around 1,000 passengers a day.
According to Deepu Juharjan, Chief of Operation Department of NAC, four airbuses will conduct two dozen flights in June.
According to the schedule, NAC will conduct a flight to Dhaka on June 14, Male and Kuala Lumpur on
June 15.
Similarly, it will conduct a flight to Dubai and Doha of Qatar on June 16, Sydney of Australia, Bangkok of Thailand and Bahrain on June 17, Riyad and Dubai on June 18, Narita of Japan and Kuwait on June 19 and Syprus, Kuala Lumpur and Doha on June 20.
According to the schedule, the NAC will conduct a flight to South Korea and Oman on June 21, Melbourne and Bangkok on June 22, Narita and Male on June 23, Kuwait and Jeddah of Saudi Arabia on June 24 and Los Angeles or Dallas of USA on June 25.
