POKHARA: Amid COVID-19 menace, six districts in Gandaki State have witnessed 27 cases of dengue fever lately. Five persons were also found suffering from scrub typhus in Myagdi, according to State Health Directorate, Pokhara.
Kaski district recorded 10 patients of dengue fever and Myagdi recorded 12 patients. Similarly, Parbat district has two persons suffering from dengue fever while one each in Baglung, Tanahu and Nawalpur.
Coordinator of emergency health operation centre of the Directorate, Nawaraj Sharma, said after several cases of dengue in Myagdi, a survey was conducted as per the dengue control work plan. Activities to control the mosquito were begun after the Aedes species of mosquito was found in Beni Municipality and Mangala Rural Municipality in Myagdi.
The Directorate has further said ‘search and destroy’ campaign along with sanitation programmes has been launched in Kaski and its vicinity. Dengue is caused by the bite of Aedes mosquito.
With the rainy season approaching, the chance of mosquito (aedes) spread is high causing dengue- high fever, pupil ache, vomiting, muscle and joint pain etc.
