Medical items from China arrive in Kathmandu
The Himalayan Airlines landed in TIA on Saturday carrying a shipment of essential medical items from Chongqing of China, said TIA General Manager Devendra KC.
The Himalaya’s Airbus with a call sign number 320-214 9ALW cargo flight brought medical equipment essential for the test and treatment of the coronavirus.
The equipment includes testing kits, personal safety gear, masks, gloves, and other medicines.
The materials were assisted by the Chinese Government in Nepal. The shipment weighs 6,892 kilos, it is said.
Banks and financial institutions’ all branches to open from Sunday
Bank and financial institutions’ branches throughout the country are opening from today as per the decision of the Council of Ministers.
The banks and financial institutions had been providing only limited service by opening their few branches after the announcement of the lockdown on March 24.
Based on this decision, the branches of all the banks and financial institutions would be opened from Sunday by observing the health safety protocols.
Civil hospital resumes OPD services
The Civil Hospital has resumed OPD services halted for long due to ongoing lockdown.
According to an administrative officer at the hospital, Ranjana Nepal, the hospital is providing regular services including OPD and other critical services except for eye and dental check-up.
The hospital has launched a separate unit of fever clinic targeting the fever patients in the wake of COVID-19.
Nepal added that the hospital was referring to the COVID-19 suspected patients to the dedicated hospital established for the treatment of COVID-19.The hospital is also providing orthopedic surgery services.
COVID-19 special hospital in Province-2 comes into operation
A special hospital to treat coronavirus infected persons has come into operation on Saturday.
The hospital is established by the Province-2 government on the premises of the Nursing Campus. The 50-bed hospital has an 8-bed ICU unit, said Dr Ram Prasad Ghimire, secretary at the Social Development Ministry of the State.
He added that the hospital is prepared as the level-2 hospital where critical COVID-19 patients referred from level-1 hospital established at the State Hospital would be treated.
