Covid-19 death toll crosses 95,000 globally, with over 1.6 million infected

KATHMANDU: With the Covid-10 going pandemic across the world, the death toll from the novel virus has reached 95, 657 after 7, 197 new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.

According to the latest figures collated by worldometer, with 84, 493 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 1, 602, 619 as of Friday morning.

Currently, 1, 151, 291 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the world, of which 49, 148 are critical. Meanwhile, 355, 671 have returned home after recovery.

Likewise, the death toll from the coronavirus has climbed to 18, 279 in Italy, the worst-hit country in terms of deaths.

Reports said 610 people died in the last 24 hours while the number of infection cases has reached 142, 626 with 4, 204 new infection cases in the last 24 hours.

Currently, 96, 877 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 3, 605 are critical. Meanwhile, 28, 470 have recovered after treatment.

A 101-year-old man has recovered from Covid-19,  becoming the oldest person in the United Kingdom to beat the deadly virus.

Keith Watson, who was being treated at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch, Worcestershire, was discharged after a two-week battle with the deadly illness.

The recovery of Watson from the novel virus has given a ray of hope to the elderly who have been the hardest-hit across the globe.

The death toll from the novel virus has reached 7, 978 in the UK after 881 died in the last 24 hours.

With 4,344 new cases, the number of infection cases has climbed to 65, 077.  Currently, 56, 964 people are undergoing treatment at various hospital, of which 1, 559 are critical.

A total of 135 have returned after recovery so far.

Likewise, France has reported 1, 341 deaths in a single day, taking the total death toll to 12, 210 as of Friday morning.

With 4, 799 new cases, the number of people infected with the novel virus has reached 117, 749.

Currently, 82, 333 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 7,066 are critical. Meanwhile, 23, 206 have recovered after treatment.

The death toll from Coronavirus in the United States of America (USA) has continued to rise. As many as 1, 872 people died in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 16, 663 as of Friday morning, according to Worldometer.

With 33, 256 new cases, the total infection cases has climbed to 468, 286 in the country.

Currently, 426, 307 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which 10, 011 are critical. Only 25, 312 have recovered after treatment.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the novel Coronavirus has speared to 209 countries including international conveyances across the world as of Friday morning.
