KATHMANDU: Renowned contractor Manoj Bhetwal has surrendered before the police on Tuesday.

Metropolitan Police Range Office, Kathmandu then apprehended Bhetwal. Bhetwal has been constructing 32-story Kathmandu View Tower at Old Bus Park in the Kathmandu Valley.

According to DSP Hobindra Bogati, Bhetwal, who hails originally from Tehrathum, was arrested on the charge of committing a banking offense. A case had been filed against him after a check worth Rs 7.5 million issued by him bounced.

Jaleshwor Swochchhanda Bikoi Builders Pvt Ltd chaired by Bhetwal had been awarded the contract to build the view tower at the cost of Rs 7.64 billion.

The construction of the view tower has been hit after the company suffered from a financial crisis of late.
