Gandaki State announces public holiday on Maghe Sankranti

POKHARA: Gandaki state government has announced a public holiday for January 15 on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti.

A meeting of Council of Ministers held on Wednesday decided to that effect, state government Spokesperson Ram Sharan Basnet said during a press briefing on Friday.

The state government had announced a public holiday in the state on the occasion of the festival last year too.

On the day, people of Hindu communities take holy dips into rivers and ponds, worship at various temples and relish delicacies like ghee, yam, Khichadi and sweets like Chaku and sweets made of sesame and molasses.
