Ronaldo elephant with tracking radio collar



CHITWAN: A tracking radio collar has been installed on the bodily part of the ‘Ronaldo’ elephant that has been rampaging the local human settlement in Chitwan.

The elephant of Chitwan National Park (CNP) was taken under control and its pointed teeth removed before installing satellite radio collar on its body.

Doctors and technicians from CNP and National Trust for Nature Conservation installed radio collar on tuskers, according to CNP information officer Gopal Ghimire.

The tusker, called Ronaldo, had been posing threat to people in wards 27 and 28 for the past two weeks.

The task of installing a radio collar has been done to track the mobility and activity of the rampaging elephant.
