All sides’ contribution imperative to respect, protect and implement human rights: President Bhandari

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said the national ambition of ‘Prosperous Nepal: Happy Nepali’ could be realized with the effective implementation of the fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution and creation of just and equitable society.

In a message of best wishes to all Nepali sisters and brothers living in the country and abroad on the occasion of the 72nd International Human Rights Day today, President Bhandari said the people from all class, sector and profession need to contribute to protect and promote the human rights.

“Nepal’s constitution has guaranteed civil and political rights, rule of law, inclusion and rights to marginalized communities,” she reminded, arguing that various constitutional commissions and bodies are active in promoting and implementing the human rights.

She wished further harmony, tolerance and integrity among the people from all castes, cultures, languages.

Since the universal declaration of human rights on December 10, 1948, the International Human Rights Day is marked across the world.
