Suspension on flights, long-haul public transport extended by 15 days

KATHMANDU: The government has extended the suspension on flights and long-haul public transport by 15 days.

A meeting of Council of Ministers held on Monday decided to extend the ban on the operation of domestic and international flights and long and medium-haul public transport until August 31.

The decision was taken in the wake of a spike in coronavirus cases especially in districts of Province 2 and Kathmandu Valley.

Earlier, the government had announced resuming airways and long-distance public transport from August 17.

The Cabinet has also decided to arrange quarantine inside the factories and industries and allow them to operate only after fulfilling the health standards as the daily movement of workers has increased the risks of coronavirus infection.

The meeting has decided to tighten the entry through border points and also to Kathmandu Valley.

Similarly, the meeting decided to reduce the entry points for Nepalis coming from India from 20 to 10.
