KATHMANDU: The Valley Municipal Forum has decided to suspend all the non-essential services delivered by all the local units in the Kathmandu Valley until August 31.

The meeting held on Monday has also urged the people of the Kathmandu Valley to adopt a high vigilance considering the high risk of the infection at the community level.

The Forum had discussed with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Ishwor Pokharel, who is also the coordinator of the COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC), at the Ministry of Defense yesterday and suggested measures for the prevention and control of the pandemic.

“It has been decided to request the government to fully control the illegal/unauthorized entry and exit of people to and from the entry points as the risk of the coronavirus infection reaching the community level has increased in the Valley,” the statement said.

The meeting has also requested to strictly prohibit the activities of holding rallies, gatherings, hunger strikes and processions in support of or against the government keeping the threat of COVID-19 spread into account.
