Nepal’s death toll from pandemic reaches 80



KATHMANDU: A woman undergoing treatment at KIST Hospital in Lalitpur has succumbed to coronavirus on Monday.

The 50-year-old woman from Panchkhal, Kavre died while undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital at 9 am this morning, said Chief Operative Officer of the hospital Anish Pathak.

The woman was admitted to the hospital on Sunday for treatment of pneumonia and her swab sample was collected after she had shown symptoms similar to the coronavirus.

The report came positive at 4 pm this evening, he said.

With the death, Nepal’s death toll from coronavirus has reached 80.

Earlier, Nepal’s death toll from coronavirus had reached 79 as of this afternoon after four deaths reported in the last 24 hours.

Speaking at a regular press briefing this afternoon, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population Dr. Jageshwor Gautam had said that two from Kathmandu and one each from Banke and Parsa have succumbed to coronavirus.

Nepal confirmed 338 fresh cases in the last 24 hours that took the national tally to 23,310.
