Administration of justice not satisfactory due to CJ’s role: NBA

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has concluded that the administration of justice has not been satisfactory due to the role of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JBR.

At a press conference organized by the umbrella organization of legal practitioners on Monday, NBA President Chandeshwor Shrestha said that the Chief Justice could not play a practical role in the administration of justice.

He added that CJ Rana has failed to eliminate anomalies within the judiciary.

“The administration of justice within the judiciary is not pleasing. There have been minor improvements, but the people’s wants have not yet been addressed yet,” he said.

Chairman Shrestha said the association has already submitted a 17-point letter to the Chief Justice saying that the anomalies in the administration of justice should be removed.

NBA has demanded to make arrangements to schedule hearings through electronic automation systems within a month, to implement the provision of Article 4 of the Judicial Council Act 2073 regarding the appointment of judges among others.
