Koteswor area sealed after surge in COVID-19 cases

KATHMANDU: With Asarfi Tole of Koteswor in Kathmandu-32 witnessing a surge in COVID-19 cases, the area has been sealed off as part of the containment policy.

The decision to this effect was made as 17 people, whose swabs were collected last week through the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), tested positive for coronavirus.

The tests were carried out after four retailers in the area had tested positive for coronavirus last week.

According to ward member Hira Devi Pokhrel, while 10 infected people have been kept in isolation at the Kirtipur and Teku Hospitals, three have been staying in self isolation.

Pokhrel said swabs of 140 people have been collected so far in the ward. Local authorities have barred people from entering the area.
