Water level rising in Koshi, 30 sluices opened for flood control



JHAPA: As many as out of 56 doors of Koshi barrage have been opened to release the surging water level caused by the continuous rainfall in the Koshi river.

According to Sub Inspector Kul Bahadur Khatri, who is on duty in the area, the water level has risen nearly by 100 thousand cusec in 12 hours since Thursday evening.

Khatri told that the water was measured 145 thousand cusec on Thursday evening which rose to 210 thousand cusec by Friday morning.

“The water level has gone up alarmingly due to the heavy rainfall since Thursday evening,” Khatri said, “ the water level that was measured 145 thousand cusec on Thursday evening has gone up to 210 thousand by Friday morning.”

However, Khatri made it clear that there was not much threat yet as 30 out of 56 doors of the barrage are opened to let the water flow naturally.
