Death toll in monsoon-triggered Pokhara landslides climbs to 7



KATHMANDU: The death toll in the landslides triggered by monsoon rains in various places of Pokhara Metropolitan City in Kaski district has reached seven.

Five people including Tanka Bahadur Thapa died after Thapa’s house collapsed in the landslide triggered by the incessant rains at Gothadi of Sarangkot this morning, said DSP Subas Hamal of District Police Office, Kaski.

Thapa’s daughters – Pinki Thapa, 22, and Asha Thapa, 18, have been injured in the landslide.

Similarly, 70-year-old Himkala Adhikari has been buried to death in the landslide at Hemja in Pokhara Metropolitan City-25.

Another killed in the landslide is Durga Bahadur Sunar who was buried to death after his house collapsed at Paitedanda in Pokhara Metropolitan City-26.
