Monsoon-induced landslide kills four in Kaski



KATHMANDU:  Four people have been buried to death in the landsides that occurred in two separate places in Kaski district on Friday morning.

According to District Police Office, Kaski, three people died at Gothadi of  Pokhara Metropolitan City-18 after the house belonging to Tanka Bahadur Thapa, a local, collapsed due to incessant rainfall.

Six people have sustained injuries and some have gone missing in the landslide triggered by the monsoon rains.

“Three people have been killed in the landslide that occurred at Gothadi of  Pokhara Metropolitan City-18 at 3 am today,” said DSP Subas Hamal of District Police Office, Kaski. Their identities are yet to be ascertained.

A rescue team of police has reached the incident site.  Those injured in the incident site have been taken to Pokhara-based Manipal Hospital.

According to DSP Hamal, a birthday celebration had taken place in the house buried by the landslide on Thursday. Some guests had come to attend the celebration.

Similarly, Himkala, the mother of Ram Chandra Adhikari, has died after Adhikari’s house was buried by a landslide at Hemja in Pokhara Metropolitan City.  The incident took place at 3 am.

The rescue work has been hit due to the incessant rainfall.
