2 die, 6 disappear as tipper plunges into Karnali River



KALIKOT: A tipper carrying some 39 Nepalis returning from India fell into the Karnali river at Lalighat on Wednesday morning killing at least 2 people.

Six have gone missing while 22 others managed to save their lives jumping off the tipper.

According to police, the tipper — Na 8 Kha 5133 — heading toward Rajkot Municipality’s quarantine carrying 39 passengers fell into the Karnali River.

Yakshya Raj Joshi, the police inspector at the District Police Office Kalikot informed that 2 died, 6 went missing and 9 got injured in the mishap.

According to him, 22 people managed to save their lives jumping off the falling tipper.

All the people travelling in the tipper were inhabitants of Rajkot Municipality returning home from India.

After coming from India they were travelling from Dahikhola to Rajkot Municipality-based quarantine.
