3 police officials injured in clash with locals

CHITWAN: Three police personnel were injured in a clash with locals at Chaukidanda in Rapti municipality of east Chitwan on Friday night.

The injured are Awadesh Prasad Yadav, Lukesh Jargha and Sujan Barailee.

The condition of Yadav among those injured is critical while that of the two is out of danger, said police.

The situation took a nasty turn after the locals attacked the security personnel at Chaukidanda while they were ferrying the marijuana seized from Rapti municipality-12 at 9 pm.

Police resorted to opening fire following the disruption by the  the locals.

Acting on a tip-off, a police squad deployed from District Police Office, Chitwan had seized the banded drug from the Rapti municipality-12.

Meanwhile, police have arrested four locals on the charge of disrupting the police. The arrested are Ranjit Waiba, 24, Suman Waiba, 20, Sancharam Ghalan, 22, and Dhan  Bhahadur Ghalan, 35.
