Coronavirus death toll crosses 276,200 globally with over 4 mln infected

KATHMANDU: With the Coronavirus pandemic wreaking havoc across the world, the death toll from the novel virus has climbed to 276, 215 with 4,012,769 infection cases as of Saturday morning.

Currently, 2,351, 430 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the world, of which 48, 699 are critical. Meanwhile, 1,385,124 have recovered after treatment.

America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has reported 1,649 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total to 78,577 as of Saturday morning.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 28,477 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 1,321,065.

Currently, 1,019, 326 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which 16,938 are critical.  Meanwhile, 223, 162 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 26, 365 deaths followed by New Jersey and Massachusetts with 8,834 and 4, 552 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Italy has reported 243 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 30,201 as of Saturday morning.

The number of infection cases in the country has reached 217, 185 after 1,327 new cases were reported, the third highest in terms of infection cases, after Spain and America, according to Worldometer.

Currently, 87,961 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 1,168 are critical. Meanwhile, 99,023 have recovered after treatment.

Likewise, the death toll in the United Kingdom (UK) has reached 31, 241 after 625 died in the last 24 hours as of Saturday morning.

According to Worldometer, with 4, 649 new cases,  the number of infection cases has surged to 211, 364.

Currently, 179, 779 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 1, 559 are critical.   UK has performed tests on 1,631,561 people so far.

Brazil has witnessed a surge in the deaths of people from Coronavirus of late. According to Worldometer, the death toll has reached 9, 992 after 804 died in the last 24 hours.

With 10, 199 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 145, 892 as of Saturday morning.

Currently, 80, 550 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 8, 318 are critical. Meanwhile, 55, 350 have recovered after treatment.

Likewise, India has reported 1, 985 deaths after 96 died in the last 24 hours. With 3,344 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 59, 695 after Saturday morning.

Currently, 39, 823 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country while 17, 887 have returned home after recovery. The India government has performed tests on 1,437,788 people for Coronavirus so far.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 212 countries including two international conveyances across the world.
