Lalita Niwas land scam shows powerful are still above law: Prabhu Sah

KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) leader Prabhu Sah said Lalita Niwas land grab scam has proven that powerful people are still above the law in Nepal.

Coming down heavily on the government’s decision over the Lalita Niwas land scam, Sah, who is also the chairman of NCP State 2, said it has exonerated former Prime Ministers Dr Baburam Bhattarai and Madhav Kumar Nepal in the high profile land grab scam and penalized the weak ones. “It has proved that law in Nepal is still not meant for those who are powerful but only those who are weak.”

Expressing his views on his Facebook, Sah ridiculed the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA)’s move to file a case against the minister who submitted a proposal in the cabinet and gave a clean chit to the prime minister who endorsed it.

Sah said, “The prime minister should be responsible for any wrongdoings in the prime ministerial system.”

“Declaring the proposer guilty and its decision maker innocent can never be justified,” asserted Sah. “If the constitution and laws are causes of this problem, we don’t need them,” said Sah.

“It is a reincarnation of the monarchical system where king and his family members used to be above the constitution. It is unacceptable to see such injustices in the communist government,” Sah added.
