No respite from winter rain soon: Meteorologists

KATHMANDU: Meteorologists have said that a new westerly low-pressure system is approaching Nepal. It will be the fourth system this winter season that is expected to bring rainfall and snowfall.

According to meteorologist Barun Poudel, a new low-pressure system is rapidly hearing toward Nepal.

“The skies will be clear on Saturday and Sunday. But, the new pressure system will create its impact from Monday”, he said.

The first winter rainfall in Kathmandu was recorded on December 14, 2019. The second winter rainfall was recorded on January 4 and 5. Kathmandu Valley has been witnessing brief rains from Tuesday night.

In the last 24 hours, Dadeldhura recorded 6.0 mm rainfall, 3.1 mm in Dipyal, 3.2 in Birendrangar, 2.2mm in Dang, 1.5 in Jumla and 1 mm in Bhairahawa.
