KATHMANDU: Executive Chairman of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has held a meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at Baluwatar.
Dahal reached Baluwatar at 11 am, according to Dahal’s secretariat. Two chairmen did not discuss any significant issues in the meeting rather it was just a courtesy call to mend soured ties between the two heavyweights, according to Baluwatar sources.
This meeting, however, has been viewed significant at a time when the two chairmen of the party were engaged in trading verbal barbs against each other, pushing the party on the brink of collapse.
Earlier, the heavyweights had briefly met at Baluwatar prior to the Secretariat meeting on December 1. However, the meeting did not end on a positive note.
The Secretariat meeting held on that day had scheduled a Standing Committee meeting against the will of Oli.
The Standing Committee meeting which was convened on December 5 has been postponed for December 13.
It is learnt that second rung leaders are holding internal meetings and dialogues to faciliate dialogues between the two chairmen since then to keep the party united.
The intra-party dispute of the NCP has deepened further due to the differences primarily between Oli and Dahal, say political analysts.
