Prachanda’s confidants snub meeting with PM Oli

KATHMANDU: A meeting between Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairman and PM KP Oli and members of the dissolved taskforce has been postponed at the eleventh hour.

The Prime Minister had summoned them for discussions at his residence in Baluwatar on Monday afternoon. But, the meeting was postponed after the members closed to Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda didn’t show up.

The members of the task force Shankar Pokharel and Bishnu Poudel close to Oli and Bhim Rawal and Surendra Pandey close to senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal waited at the hall of the Prime Minister’s Secretariat to discuss with Oli.

But, it was reported that Janardan Sharma was in isolation and Pampha Bhushal had to attend a meeting of the State Affairs Committee. As leaders close to Prachanda were not present at the meeting, other members of the taskforce left arguing that there was no point in discussing with PM Oli.

On July 21, the NCP had formed the six-member task force to settle the intra-party dispute. The task force was dissolved after it submitted a report to settle the dispute in the ruling party.
